Sun Wukong, Great Sage Equal of Heaven! I’m attempting to read the Chinese epic “Journey to the West.” Not sure how far I’ll get - while It’s very readable and interesting, it’s also very LONG.
This was my first traditionally drawn/inked piece in a long time and I was pretty rusty, I wish I’d pushed the pose a lot more and made him look a bit more monkey-like. For any Monkey fans out there, the clothing he’s wearing here is that given to him by the Dragon King of the Eastern Seas - a phoenix feather cap, a golden cuirass, and “cloud walking boots” (No idea what those are, I just gave him snazzy shoes) I think most pictures I’ve seen are him in the outfit he gets later from the Jade Emperor.
MY SHOP IS OPEN!! You can get this Plants and Rocks zine for just $2.50 (that’s like £1.45!) Other things (like t-shirts and cards) will be coming soon!
This looks so cute!
Invisibility Potion - do not consume while driving. That would look silly. Remember this old favourite? I’ve tried out a new technique with it - inside is hard resin and gold flakes. It mimics liquid, but it more durable, and looks really quite interesting.
‘The Codex Seraphinianus is a book written and illustrated by Italian artist, architect and industrial designer Luigi Serafini, from 1976 to 1978. The book appears to be a visual encyclopedia of an unknown world, written in one of its languages, an alphabetic writing intended to be meaningless.’
