My friend Vyvyan is going to be on Only Connect on BBC 2 at half past 8 today! (15/09/14) Some of you might remember him from TOADBADGER?!
Just so you can watch it and go “aha, that must be the fellow that that lady on the internet told me about!” while watching.
I promise I’ll get posting about arty things and my shop soon (I have… plans) but in the meantime, here is more news about another of my friends being amazing!
Her Own Shadow by Ann Guillory
I’m super excited because my friend and housemate has published a book!
We were at Oxford University together and I know she was always chipping away at this really detailed story involving werewolves. Now she works in publishing and has finally released it to the world!
As an anthropologist, a feminist and someone incredibly intelligent and discerning about stories and how they work, you can read it and know her work redresses some of the problems in young adult fantasy literature. Put it like this.. this is no Twilight.
Best of all, you can get it for kindle right now! I’ve linked to the UK store, but if you live elsewhere you can look it up on your local store. If you could reblog this and spread the word, that would be fantastic.
Well, my first craft fayre is completed!
Phew! After eduring seven hours of standing around by my table, I can officially say I’ve had my first real life stall.
The event wasn’t as well visited as it could have been, unfortunately, (there was another event going on in the same village on the same day - oops!) and I know from talking to many of the stallholders that some people didn’t sell much if anything, but fortunately my low-price glowing things attracted a lot of the other stallholder’s children, who ensured that I made back the price of the table, at least.
I had fun which was the main thing, and met lots of other interesting crafters. I hope I get chance to do a similar event again someday!
